Electronic Communications Act 2000 (ECA)
UK legislation that gives electronic signatures legal admissibility in court proceedings. Establishes that electronic signatures can be used as evidence.
TL;DR
The ECA 2000 does not prescribe specific technology requirements for electronic signatures. Instead, it establishes that electronic signatures are admissible as evidence in legal proceedings.
Post-Brexit, the UK has retained the eIDAS framework through the UK eIDAS regulation, which continues to recognise SES, AES, and QES levels.
